How do I become a member of FBC?

We offer membership to those who have made a decision to follow Jesus Christ, have experienced baptism by immersion, and have completed FBC's membership process. If you would like to learn more about becoming a member at FBC, please email our Main Office at fbcoffice@fbcdavison.org.

What is the meaning of baptism?

Baptism is important for a number of reasons. One reason is that it illustrates Christ's burial and resurrection (1 Cor. 15:3-4; Col. 2:12). Another reason is that it illustrates my new life as a follower of Jesus Christ (2 Cor. 5:17; Rom. 6:4; Eph. 2:8-9). It's important to note that baptism doesn't make you a believer in Jesus, nor does it save you. Baptism is your pubic expression, or outward symbol (like a wedding ring), that expresses the commitment you've made to surrender your life to Jesus Christ.

Why do we baptize by immersion?

We baptize by immersion because Jesus was baptized by immersion (Matt. 3:16), and because the predominant pattern of baptism throughout Scripture is by immersion (Acts 8:38-39). In a way, baptism by immersion best symbolizes the burial of the dead self, and the resurrection of the new life in Jesus Christ.

Who should be baptized?

Any and every person who makes the decision to follow Jesus (Acts 2:41; Acts 8:12-13).

When should I be baptized?

As soon as you have made the decision to surrender your life to Jesus Christ (Acts 2:41; Acts 8:35-38).

Can my family be baptized together?

Yes! If each family member understands fully the meaning and significance of baptism, and each one has personally placed their trust in Jesus Christ for salvation, we encourage families to be baptized together. It's an extraordinary expression of commitment to Jesus, and a testiment to His power of Grace.

What should I wear when I'm baptized?

Women should wear shorts and a top that will preserve modesty, or we offer robes to wear. Men may wear a swim suit and t-shirt, or a robe is available to them, as well. Bring a change of clothes, a towel, and a plastic bag for your wet articles of clothing. We provide towels and a private room to change in.
